Well the O-H-I-O team got back from Denmark around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night on the 22nd. My group didn't get back to the church until midnight. Yea I was up for a total of 27 hours that day! yippee......!!! AHHH!!!! There is soooo much to recap, but I'll try to sum it up the best I can. (go to this site for some more info: www.xanga.com/denmarkmissionstrip
A total of 27 individuals from different parts of Ohio (North, the middle, and South) went to Denmark {and Sweden for 2 days/1 night} for 10 days. We left on June 12 and traveled allllll day long. Our flight from Columbus was delayed so one of our planes was held for us since they would of had 27 people missing. When we got there, there was no resting. We changed our shirts (we were all sweaty..yuck) and split up into our groups. My group went to a youth group (WACK) and we ate together, had a meal, service, hung out then played soccer ( I didn't). It was fun getting to know the people in my group and the Danes. I like the idea of eating together then having a service every time. They do that a lot over there. After soccer we all walked back and settled in to our rooms.
Every day our breakfast was at 8 so I'd set the alarm for 7, but yea no one in my room would get up until at least 7:20/30...I got up at 7:15 ...it was soo hard!! After breakfast we'd have our devos..devotionals usually in the sanctuary where we were staying. We stayed at the Penecostal International Church in Copenhagen. Their churches are definitely not like ours here. This one kept going on and on and on. You had to use a "brick"..magnet..to open the locked doors to get in to different rooms. The leaders and masters commissions leaders had those. (We worked with the masters commissions students..Alicia, Karla, Daniel, David, Lotte). Ok back to Tues...that day my group helped paint. I painted for a little bit then hung out with the kids outside trying to get to know them. They didn't all speak English tho so that was hard. Later that night a group of 7 of us went to Klippen- where they minister to drug addicts and prostitutes. We biked there and I enjoyed the bike ride. It's tricky tho b/c you really have to watch out for those cars and people! Once there we were given instructions on what to do then we split off and the people I went with handed out coffee/tea and cookies to people on the street. Later we came back and just talked to the people in there. Carol and I spoke with a man who was beaten up the day before. He shared his story and it just broke our hearts. He had seen 10 overdoses, been in 1, didn't know where his family was, had been in jail numerous times, everything he was wearing was stolen, had 6-8 beer bottles in his pockets, seemed very out of it, and seemed so lost. He did know about God, and that God cared for him, but still was lost. I know when others from our team went they saw things I did not see....people shooting siranges (sp?) into their arms. eek. After Klippen, Alicia took us on a bike tour of the city. That was fun!

June 15- paint day...then in the evening we went to Connect- a group for young adults ages 20-30. That was fun and I met the 2 lead worship singers-Sarah & Patty. Later that night 3 of us girls from OH went and got ice cream with them at the famous 7-11. :)

June 16- Left for Sweden to go fliering...ie pass out fliers advertising an upcoming event at the Swedish church we stayed at. We walked up and down many flights of stairs in apartment buildings and pass many homes. Later that night at the church we played hide n seek :).

June 17- Fliered again.....tiring, but we did it! Then sightseeing later on. WEnt back in the evening to Denmark. Only 19 of us went to Sweden...the other group painted at the other church Amabro in Dk.

June 18- Went to 2 church services- Danish and International...both awesome....:) Loved the worship led by Sarah then later on Patty :) We had a translator thing we listened to to help us. Later that evening I helped karla get food at the grocery store (on our bikes) and make spaghetti. The US team played the Danes in soccer. We won I think...lol I wasn't there to see...

June 19- helped with breakfast--oatmeal--helped paint at Amabro--painted a window with Melissa...came back, ate dinner, then went on a prayer walk for an hour 1/2 up and down some streets. That was pretty cool. Just prayed for the city of Copenhagen among diff things. Then after that helped clean up the offices upstairs. Tiring day! whew!

June 20- Devos and the leaders prayed for us "students" which was really nice. Cleaned up the offices again, mopped the kitchen, helped paint the computer room with the guys...lol..I finally got to paint mustaches on some people. It made my day! :) hahahah. so much fun!

June 21- FREE DAY-Sightseeing- boat tour- went through Rosenborg Castle-lunch-ate a swarma-then shopping for 2 hours-dinner-special service on the church's roof-special prayer service that was awesome- bed.

June 22- Got up at 3 am to travel back home. Got a keychain in London airport. (Our route---drive to Columbus from Avon, Oh (church)....Columbus airport-Chicago-London-Copenhagen.
I want to go back already. Now it's back to reality and work...blah... I loved the trip. Great times! :)
